Wellbeing Picture book author Rebecca Stack from Newport, South Wales is a 44-yr-old mother of 2 and a breast cancer survivor. She wrote her books in October 2020 amidst lockdown as she could see how it was dampening children’s adventurous spirit, making them nervous to put themselves back out there. She wrote Gordon the Giraffe Dreams Big to encourage them to follow their hearts and to not be afraid to be who they’re meant to be. She wrote Addy the Anxious Aardvark as a way to share the techniques she’s used over the years following her cancer diagnosis to overcome her worries of it returning. It’s a story showing how to deal with worry arising from change such as first day in nursery or school etc.
